'Metamorphosed matter' 2012 (detail); fabric, polyester wadding, palm fronds, thread, concrete, paint.
Multiplying, evolving and melding into their organic counterparts these silvered mutant entities were spawn under unknown circumstances. Easily adapted to their jagged, unstable surrounds in a distinctly toxic atmosphere; they unwittingly prosper. Referencing imagery of microscopic organisms, these forms aim to mimic biological cellular structures through their bulbous shapes, compositional clustered groupings and textural densities. Palm fronds are used for their distinct curved shapes and concave inlets; perfect to house and foster these entities' growth whilst simultaneously referencing nature. Coarsely angular concrete mounds ground the forms and juxtapose their softer textile surfaces..
