‘The Entrance Boatshed – 1'
‘The Entrance Boatshed – 1, 2, 3, 4, ’ The images of hire boats provide cropped compositions of angular line and shape – collectively informing the viewer of the place and mood. The ‘expressive’ style provides a release from the confines of a career in architecture. The spontaneous Alla Prima approach uses acrylic paint applied by sponge only (onto canvas) so as to physically reduce the potential for detail, and allow mixing of paint on the canvas. Through the limitation of only using sponge, the images are blurred and incomplete, aiming to infer detail in the viewers’ eye.
