Stitch Windsor Chair
The Stitch Windsor looks at the power of material and process to influence both our interaction and perception of object. The salvaged Windsor was made of solid pine and ply, but were poorly connected with allen key screws. The legs had broken from the chair, the was frame loose with one leg missing. Despite this the materials were intact and solid only the joints were at fault. Working from the Keloid philosophy of natural, functional material I used Eucalyptus branch to replace the missing leg, used a traditional wedge joint as was customary on the original windsor chair designs and reinforced the frame with a hand stitched leather sheath. Incorporating traditional methods with unconventional materials and processes emphasises the potential for repair and more diverse utilisation of resources in design and production.
