URBAN DESIGN FOR LEICHHARDT TOWNHALL
This project was for Leichhardt Council in Sydney. The aim was to develop the under utilised car park behind the Leichhardt Town Hall into a layered multi-functional creative arts precinct and restore the town hall to its once central place in the neighbourhood. The design employs underground architecture principles to maximise the use of the space and minimise the visual impact of the development on the adjacent buildings. There is a sunken amphitheatre, rooftop community garden, café and cooking school, two levels of street markets and a circular brick gallery.
