'Sleeper Seat', 2011
Inspired by the Paddington Reservoir, and the original Ironbark columns that still stand in the space, this seat has been constructed from recycled railway sleepers. A nod to Jurgen Bey's influential 'Tree Trunk Bench', the design references the strength and durability of the Ironbark tree. Sections of the sleepers have been cut and oiled to show the disparity between the old and new revealing the beautiful timber beneath the dry and weathered exterior.
