Following alternative trends and lifestyles has formed many dynamic social and cultural groups amongst Generation Y. The common factor prevalent in each group is that participants strive to portray a unique identity. Some of the most popularly labeled identities include; Hipsters, lads, hippies, emo’s/gothics/punks, straight edge and social climbers. Generation Y’s attempts in leading individual entities has led to the shifting nature of cultural identities.
