'Aliena Fungorum' 2012; fabric, thread, polyester wadding.
This site-specific collaborative work made with artist Harriet Robey is an imagined response to fungi and organic by-products of natural phenomena found within biological environments. The essence of disease is sculpturally strived for, aiming to evoke audience associations with infectious parasitic growths, toxicity and consequent impending engulfment. Having spent a week at Smiths Lake (approx. 274 kilometres north of Sydney) this work adopted textile materiality and mutual sewing processes in response to the tranquil environmental surrounds.
