Growing Pains

This ring explores the significance of marriage, especially the growth as well as hardships which many experience during married life. The cactus, as it is a plant, symbolises the growth of the relationship. Although as the cactus is spiky and can hurt, it is also a symbol of the complications which can arise in any relationship. The ring is fabricated to reflect the patterning on the cactus and is shaped and coloured to represent pots which typically house such plants. With tender love and care the cactus is likely to thrive, similarly with attention and care, the marriage will withstand the test of time. “We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it." – John Lennon
